There’s something really special about photographing siblings a few years apart — watching a family grow up, one senior year at a time. A couple of years ago, I had the pleasure of photographing Cole’s older brother for his senior session. Now it’s Cole’s turn, and let me tell you, this session did not disappoint.
A Hockey Player Through and Through
Cole plays hockey, and it’s clearly a huge part of who he is — so we knew his gear had to be part of the story. We brought in his jacket, his stick, and his skates, and built a whole portion of the session around his sport. There’s something so authentic about photographing someone with the gear that means something to them. It’s not just a prop — it’s part of Cole’s identity, and years from now, these are the images that will remind him exactly who he was at eighteen.

Then We Let Cole Just Be Cole
After the hockey portraits, we shifted gears into some natural, relaxed shots — no gear, no props, just Cole. This is always one of my favorite parts of a session. It’s where a senior’s personality really comes through, once the “posed” feeling melts away and they settle into just being themselves in front of the camera.

Ending on the Beach at Lynch Park
We wrapped up the session down at the beach at Lynch Park in Beverly — one of my absolute favorite North Shore locations for senior portraits. The light, the texture of the rocks and shoreline, the way the water changes the whole mood of a set of images — it’s the perfect way to close out a session. Cole’s beach portraits ended up being some of my favorites from the whole shoot.

Full Circle
Getting to photograph both brothers has been one of the sweetest parts of running this business. There’s a kind of trust that builds when a family comes back for a second senior session — and getting to watch a younger sibling step into his own senior year, with his own interests and his own story to tell, is exactly why I love what I do.
Congratulations, Cole! Wishing you the best senior year and beyond.
